KMA competition results
The Panther Southern Taekwondo championships took place on Saturday 14th October at the Oasis Academy in Southampton. With a team of nine students ranging in age from 5 - 14 years Team KMA convened at 8:15 ready to tackle the days proceedings. There were two disciplines at the event; Sparring (Kyorugi) and Technical (Poomsae). On this occasion all of Team KMA took part in the full contact sparring.
The event was the biggest yet for Panther, drawing in 300 competitors from all around the UK. This meant that categories were heavily populated with lots of players meaning that winning your first fight didn't guarantee you a medal. You had to win several matches to get a sniff at taking home any silverware.
Here's a small selection of photo's from the day.
Result - A tally of 1 x GOLD, 4 x SILVER and 2 x BRONZE.
I'm immensely proud as a coach and father to two of the players who took part at the event. This is truly a character building discipline for all involved and they demonstrated true resilience.
Team KMA consisted of:
Sienna Pope - GOLD
Imogen Pope - SILVER x 2
Blake Barton - SILVER
Noah Hooper - SILVER
Declan Morgan - BRONZE
Frederik Roscoe - BRONZE
Samuel Leah
Joshua Westall
Scott Upstell
Congratulations to all the KMA Team who fought very hard; there were some close matches and I'm confident that those who narrowly missed out on medals will have a greater chance next time. A Big thanks to all the parents who support their child on their Taekwondo journey.
Until next time; keep training hard.
